His love for sports has been a source of inspiration for budding tribal athletes in Visakhapatnam. A Circle Inspector by the name of Addanki Srinivasa Rao has taken under his wing four talented tribal boys from the AP Tribal Welfare Residential Junior College in Maredmilli. These boys have achieved numerous victories and are now poised to showcase their abilities in the state tournament.
Srinivasa Rao, who has been providing training and equipment to young athletes in the district for over two decades, noticed the potential of the four intermediate students who hail from poor farm laborers’ families. He has been providing them with the necessary diet and sports equipment for the past four months in preparation for the state-level meet. The four boys, P Naga Suresh (1500 meters), A Uday Kiran Reddy (1500 meters), J Durga Prasad (Javelin), and M Babi Reddy (Shotput), were selected to compete in the state meet to be held in Srikakulam district.
Srinivasa Rao is impressed by the natural talent of the tribal boys and believes that they have the potential to excel in state and national-level competitions. He has been observing them for the past six months and has decided to provide them with better coaching and materials, along with a proper diet, using his own funds. He believes that with the right support, these youngsters can win medals for the state and even the country.
Apart from focusing on these young tribal athletes, Srinivasa Rao is also providing physical training to 14 other young men who are preparing for the general duty constable exams in paramilitary forces. He has been organizing numerous hockey tournaments at the district, state, and national levels for many years.
Srinivasa Rao added that the young tribal sports talents need more support from the government and private sectors to hone their skills further. He emphasized the need for providing better infrastructure and facilities for the budding sports personalities in rural areas. He hopes that his efforts will inspire others to come forward and support the tribal youth in their pursuit of sports.
In addition to fostering sports talent, Srinivasa Rao has also been actively involved in community service. He has been organizing blood donation camps and awareness programs on health and sanitation in the area. His dedication and commitment to social service have earned him widespread recognition and admiration from the local community.
Overall, Srinivasa Rao’s efforts to support and encourage tribal sports talent in Visakhapatnam are commendable. His selfless dedication and passion for sports have inspired many young athletes to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals. With more support from the government and private sectors, these young talents from rural areas can shine on the national and international stage, bringing pride and glory to their communities and the country.
