The authorities in Visakhapatnam district are preparing for a land pooling initiative aimed at providing housing for the poor. They have identified over 770 acres of land in various villages for this purpose. Public opinion will be sought through Grama sabhas conducted at panchayat offices from June 12 to June 18. If there are any objections, they can be raised with the land protection cell deputy tahsildars at the tahsildars’ offices before July 4.

The notification states that a total of 771 acres will be acquired in Anandapuram (401 acres), Visakha rural (118 acres), Padmanabham (116 acres), and Bheemili (135 acres) mandals. Around 500 acres will be given to the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Regional Development Authority. Previously, around 6,000 acres were acquired through land pooling when government land was unavailable for housing the poor three years ago.

The majority of the land will be pooled in Anandapuram mandal, including government lands in Mukundapuram and Sontyam. Other villages in different mandals will also be included in the pooling initiative. Additionally, lands in Paradesi Palem and Sixth Ward (Kommadi) in GVMC limits in Visakha rural mandal will be pooled for the housing project.
