State IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath conducted a thorough inspection of the accident site at Sahithi Pharma Pvt Ltd Company in Auchathapuram SEZ on Friday. Accompanied by District Collector Ravi Patan Shetty, officials from the Industries Department, company management representatives, and the public, Minister Amarnath reviewed the incident to determine its causes. He urged officials to promptly provide a comprehensive report on the accident’s causes. Minister Amarnath had already reviewed the preliminary report submitted by the Industries Department.

During the inspection, Minister Amarnath inquired about the ongoing safety audit in the company and instructed officials to investigate if any human error contributed to the accident. He further announced that an ex gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh would be provided to the injured victims.

Later, addressing the media, Minister Amarnath informed that his government had mandated every factory in the state to submit monthly safety audit reports to the district collector. He stated that the reports were currently being collected by the authorities. Minister Amarnath emphasized that the government was committed to strengthening safety regulations in response to the growing number of pharma companies.

Regarding the recent spate of fire accidents in the pharmaceutical sector, Minister Amarnath disclosed that plans for establishing a Burns hospital in the vicinity had been initiated less than four months ago. Laurus, a pharmaceutical company, has pledged a significant donation of three to four crores towards the hospital’s construction. The minister assured that work on the hospital would commence shortly.

The government’s proactive measures in response to the accident at Sahithi Pharma Pvt Ltd reflect their commitment to ensuring safety in industrial settings. Minister Amarnath’s inspection, along with the announcement of ex gratia for the injured and the promise of stricter regulations, demonstrates a concerted effort to address the challenges faced by the pharmaceutical industry in terms of safety and security.
