Visakhapatnam, June 15, 2023: A dramatic turn of events unfolded in Visakhapatnam as the wife, son, and a prominent auditor of YSR Congress Party MP, M.V.V. Satyanarayana, were allegedly kidnapped from the MP’s residence in Rushikonda. However, thanks to the swift response from the police, the victims were successfully rescued from an undisclosed location on the outskirts of the city within a few hours.
According to police sources, the mastermind behind the kidnapping was identified as Hemanth Kumar, a notorious rowdy sheeter who had prior connections with the MP’s family. Hemanth lured the MP’s son, Chandu, by calling him for a discussion regarding a potential business deal in Rushikonda. However, once Chandu entered the car, Hemanth allegedly abducted him. Exploiting Chandu’s situation, the kidnappers managed to trap Jyothi, the MP’s wife. They subsequently took both Chandu and Jyothi hostage, and further kidnapped G. Venkateswara Rao, a respected auditor and a close associate of MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana.
In response to the alarming situation, City Police Commissioner CM Trivikrama Varma swiftly formed special teams comprising senior officials, deploying them strategically throughout the city. The dedicated police units pursued the kidnappers and successfully intercepted the vehicle under the jurisdiction of the Padmanabham police station.
G. Venkateswara Rao, formerly the Chairman of Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited, shares a strong bond with MP M.V.V. Satyanarayana. Meanwhile, Hemanth Kumar, the prime accused, has a criminal record at Bheemunipatnam Police Station for his involvement in previous kidnapping and murder cases, according to a senior police officer.
Further details regarding the motive and additional individuals involved in the case are yet to be revealed by the police. The successful rescue operation and the subsequent apprehension of the accused have brought a sense of relief to the MP’s family and the community at large.
