Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the newly-inducted employees who participated in the Rozgar Mela across 45 locations in the country via video-conferencing. Approximately 71,000 appointment letters were distributed to successful candidates. The 5th tranche of the Rozgar Mela, organized by the Department of Posts in collaboration with various Central government departments, took place on May 16 at the Port Kalavani Auditorium in Visakhapatnam, with Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagawat Karad as the chairperson.

During his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to transparency in recruitment and the simplification of the application process through online platforms. He emphasized the development of modern infrastructure, rural advancement, and increased capital expenditure as contributors to the creation of new employment opportunities for the youth.

Prime Minister Modi mentioned the evolving nature of jobs and the government’s support for emerging sectors. The number of startups has grown from just 100 in 2014 to nearly one lakh, providing employment opportunities for 10 lakh youths. He encouraged the newly-appointed candidates to make use of the online learning platform launched by the Central government to enhance their skills and receive necessary training.

Union Minister Bhagawat Karad, in his address to the newly-recruited employees, highlighted the government’s efforts to boost employment across sectors. He mentioned the provision of collateral-free Mudra loans up to ₹10 lakh for small traders and street vendors to start or expand their businesses. With 65% of India’s population below the age of 32, the Minister emphasized the Prime Minister’s vision to see India as a developed nation by 2047, the centenary year of India’s Independence.

During the event, Minister Karad presented appointment letters to several recruits, including visually-challenged individual Nageswara Rao Atmakuri, who secured a position as a Senior Clerk/Typist in the railways, and Dr. Metta Rajasekhar, who was employed as an anaesthesiologist at AIIMS Mangalagiri. Colonel V. Ramulu, the Post Master General of Visakhapatnam Region, was also in attendance.
