On May 8, 2022, a horrifying incident took place in a locality within Anakapalli district. A seven-year-old girl, who was studying in second grade at an MPUP School, was subjected to multiple instances of sexual assault by a person residing in the same area. Distressed by the situation, the girl’s parent filed a complaint with the Chodavaram police station.

Taking swift action, the Disha police initiated a thorough investigation into the case. After a fair and just trial, a Special Sessions Judge delivered a significant verdict on Monday. The perpetrator was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and was also ordered to pay a fine of ₹5,000 for the heinous crime of raping the young girl.

In addition to the legal consequences, the Judge directed the State government to provide ₹1 lakh as compensation to the victim within 30 days of receiving the court’s order. This compensation is intended to support the girl and help her recover from the traumatic incident.

It is essential that justice is served in such cases, and the authorities are taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the victim.
