Simhachalam: In a celebration of spirituality and devotion, thousands of devotees are eagerly preparing to participate in the annual Giri Pradakshina Utsav at Simhachalam on Sunday, coinciding with the auspicious Ashada full moon. The event, which involves circumambulating the sacred Simhadri Appanna Hill, is believed to bestow immense blessings upon the devotees.

Starting at 2 pm on Sunday, the grand procession will commence from Tolipavancha, situated at the foot of Simhachalam hill. The beautifully adorned chariot carrying the idols of Swami and Ammavar will lead the way, followed by countless devotees who will embark on the sacred pilgrimage. The route will take them through various neighborhoods, including old Adivivaram, Mudasarlova, Hanumanthuvaka, Visalakshinagar, Jodugullapalem, Appughar, Venkojipalem, and more.

The final leg of the Giri Pradakshina will be completed by reaching Tigiri Tholipavancha via NAD Crossing, Gopalapatnam, Prahladapuram, and Old Goshala Crossing. Devotees who are unable to undertake the entire 32-kilometer circumambulation are allowed to perform a shortened version within the temple premises, starting from 3 am on the morning of July 3rd.

Considering the massive influx of devotees expected during the festival, the Simhachalam Devasthanam and district administration have made elaborate arrangements. A heavy police deployment has been organized to ensure the smooth flow of the event and maintain public safety. Hundreds of policemen have been stationed at key locations, such as Tolipavancha, to oversee security measures.

District Collector Mallikarjuna personally inspected the arrangements on Saturday, visiting Lumbini Park, Venkojipalem, and Madhavadhara areas. He emphasized the need for temporary toilets and shower facilities to be installed to accommodate the devotees and requested that all necessary arrangements be made to avoid any inconvenience.

The Giri Pradakshina Utsav holds great significance for devotees who seek spiritual blessings and a profound sense of fulfillment. As Simhachalam eagerly awaits the arrival of the faithful, the air is filled with a palpable sense of devotion and joy, promising an unforgettable celebration on the auspicious Ashada pournami.
