Union Government’s Rozgar Programme Empowers Youth: Minister Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad

Union Minister of State for Finance, Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, praised the beauty and cleanliness of Visakhapatnam during his visit to the city. He was the chief guest at the national-level fifth tranche of the Rozgar mela, organized by the Department of Posts, held at Port Kalavani Auditorium on Tuesday. The Rozgar programme was simultaneously conducted in 45 locations across the country, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurating the event in Delhi. In Andhra Pradesh, the programme took place in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

Expressing his optimism for Visakhapatnam’s future, Mr. Karad stated that the Union Government is undertaking various initiatives for youth development, with the Rozgar programme being a significant step in that direction. During the day, a total of 71,000 appointment letters were issued nationwide, with around 400 candidates receiving offers in Visakhapatnam alone. The scheme, which was launched a year and a half ago, has provided employment to approximately 3.5 lakh unemployed individuals across the country.

Addressing a query, Mr. Karad mentioned that two districts in Andhra Pradesh have been identified as backward districts among the 112 districts nationwide, and the Central Government is taking measures to provide financial assistance to uplift these regions.

The Rozgar mela in Visakhapatnam was organized by the Visakhapatnam Region Department of Posts in collaboration with other central government departments, including Railways, AIIMS Mangalagiri, IIM-Visakhapatnam, Controller General of Defence Accounts, and Geological Survey of India. The event not only offered employment opportunities to candidates selected through various recruitment agencies like SSC and RRB but also issued appointment letters to physically challenged individuals.

The positions offered included Gramin Dak Sevaks, Inspector of Posts, Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk, Junior Clerk, Typist, Junior Accountant, Track Maintainer, Assistant Section Officer, Tax Assistants, Firemen, Head Constable, Auditor, Trained Graduate Teacher, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Professor, and many others.
