Visakhapatnam-based cricketer K. Nitish Reddy marked his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) held on May 18 in Hyderabad. While he didn’t have the opportunity to bat, Reddy bowled two overs, conceding 19 runs with an economy rate of 9.5. However, his first IPL wicket was denied as the third umpire declared his bouncer, which dismissed Faf du Plessis, a no ball.

Reddy’s inclusion in the playing eleven received warm appreciation from members of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), who expressed optimism about the 20-year-old cricketer getting another chance in SRH’s final game against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. His impressive performance in the previous Andhra Premier League (APL) caught the attention of SRH selectors, leading to his selection for the IPL squad this year.

Prior to this opportunity, Reddy had a break in the 2021 IPL when he was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as a net bowler. Known for his versatile skills as an all-rounder, Reddy usually plays in the middle-order and also bowls at a brisk pace. His cricketing journey began at the age of six, and he received valuable training and guidance through coaching camps organized by the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA). Reddy has had successful stints in the U-16 and U-19 categories and has also represented India B.

As Reddy looks forward to future matches and opportunities to showcase his talent, his IPL debut has further cemented his presence in the cricketing landscape and raised expectations for his future performances.
